Nov 30, 2013 @ Markham-Stouffville Stars - W 3-1
The ESS Midget B Golden Hawks faced their regional rival, Markham-Stouffville Stars, for the first time this season and came away with a 3-1 victory. With at least 4 more games to come, it was a good start for the Hawks. Georgina jumped out to a 2 goal first period lead, while outshooting the home team 8-2. The first goal came off a face-off in the offensive zone. Megan pushed home a puck that Maddie Brown won towards the Markham net. Two mionutes later Taylor scored on a feed from the corner from Mariah. The Hawks gave a goal up in the 2nd period off a blocked shot and a Makham break. Emily scored off the draw in the third period, as Maddie Brown won another face-off for a score.

Kitchener Tournament Summary
Record 1-2-1 (Finished 3rd)
The Golden Hawks travelled to Kitchener for their 2nd tournament of the season. The team played spirited hockey but wound up missing the final game by a point. The Hawks started with a tie against the tournament hosts, Kitchener Lady Rangers, and finished with a win against St Clair, which eliminated them from the final and pushed the Hawks ahead of them in the standings.
Game 1 vs Kitchener Lady Rangers - T 1-1 - The Hawks scored shorthanded in the 2nd period and held the lead until the third period when a Kitchener player blindly threw a backhand at the net to tie the game. Scoring Georgina's shorthanded goal was Mariah, assisted by Taylor and Kylie.
Game 2 vs Petrolia Oilers L 3-0 - A loss to the eventual undefeated tournament winners. The Hawks held tough but ended up giving up a goal in each period and couldn't find the back of the net themselves.
Game 3 vs Woolwich Wild L 4-1 - This game was closer than the final score. The Hawks got rattled by a controversial opening goal by the Wild. They could not focus on the challenge of mounting a comeback and spent too much time focusing on the calls of the refs. Katie scored a late power play goal, assisted by Melissa.
Game 4 vs St Clair Storm W 3-2 - The Hawks were playing for 3rd place and trying to prevent St Clair from making the finals. The game was played on the rink for the Kitchener Rangers, the Memorial Auditorium. The Hawks ran up a 3-0 lead and had the 4th goal called back on a strange play. Immediately following the "no goal" call, the Storm got on the board and made the game very tense, but could not pull themselves all the way back. Mackenzie scored the opening goal for Georgina in the first period, assisted by Devin and Maddie Bell. A second period power play goal, put the Hawks up 2-0, as Taylor redirected a pass from Katie into the net. Megan scored the third goal off a face-off win by Maddie Brown.
Twoonie Board Winners - Ada MacDonald, Tim Unwin, Darcie Scullen x 2
Hawks Weather the Storm
Nov 16, 2013 @ North York Storm (3033) - W 3-1
The Hawks faced this particular North York Storm team for the first time this season. With the knowledge that they may have to play part of the game without a goalie, the Golden Hawks went out to hard to get ahead early. Mariah put home a rebound just over a minute into the first period to establish the lead, assisted by Mackenzie and Taylor. Before the end of the first, the Hawks were up by two. Maddie Brown scored on hard shot breaking in 2 on 1, assisted by Taylor. North York came back to within a goal on a desperation backhand shot in the 2nd period. The Storm pressed hard in the 3rd period but could not even the score. Fortunately the game moved at a fast pace and there was only 1 minute left when the goalie deadline came up and Laura stayed to make a couple of key saves. With 40 seconds remaining, Mariah scored an empty net goal to seal the victory, again assistem by Taylor.
